Travel Trends in 2021

Local Explorations & Border-Less Travelling
Most likely valid at least until most countries around the world will have their population vaccinated-for many places, this is not the case yet. Try hiking, discover unknown places with the hot air balloon, do something exciting try stepping out of your comfort zone, or travel with a horse-drawn carriage, spending time on a house boat and follow your countries waterways is exciting, follow the trail a historic person, plan a photo “safari”- you do not need the big five, promise!

Nature First-Cities Last
While city trips have been trending for many years, in 2021 this paradigm will change. City travelling will be the last kind of holiday to return. Crowds of people, condensed spaces and short-haul flights won’t come back into fashion for a while. This is partly due to a lingering fear and the long confinements some of us had to endure during the pandemic, yet the main reason is, we have become aware of the damage we inflict on the environment due to city-hopping every weekend,

Privacy instead of shared spaces
Renting a home away from home has definitely become the trend and one that will outlast the pandemic. Residing at a luxury suite in a hotel is not the thing to do anymore. Cosy lodges, a castle or a state of the art hut somewhere remote are the latest must-haves. These places have become quite luxurious and come with the service of a luxury hotel. Booking a treehouse vacation somewhere remote is sign of true sophistication in 2021

Just in case

Mini Bags are definitely out
Goodbye to micro and mini bags that can barely hold a credit card. 2021 will be all about function in fashion. So ditch your mini bags for roomier options like oversized satchels, totes, and carryalls.

Put your stilettos in storage
Some would argue, combat boots are the new stilettos, gladly not. And stilettos are never out of fashion, but after a year of wearing mostly slippers, the trend for 2021 is a more comfortable flattish shoe. So here comes the chunky loafer, high Chelsea Boots, ballerinas, trainers and the block like Mary Jane heel are the latest trends and help with regaining balance after a year or more in slippers. Some designers even made those streetsmart, in case we feel nostalgic and to make the transition smoother.

The Day Dress
1940 are back, whether pouffe sleeved or more no-nonsense, the shirt dress or tea dress is a must-have. With floral prints and polka dots and for the more minimalist amongst us they do come plain coloured, or striped too. Easy to dress up or down whatever the occasion, definitely an “at-home” must for all who prefer relaxed elegance and are pants-averse.
